Shangan 5b Housing is a scheme of 57 units commissioned by Ballymun Regeneration Ltd. as one of nine schemes in Phase 4 of the Housing Programme. The site of three acres is formed by the proposed realignment of Shangan Avenue, the new neighbourhood centre and by the existing Shangan Gardens housing built in the Radburn typology. A new park is planned to the south.

The scheme is being designed to create a strong street edge along the new Shangan Avenue and to provide high quality residential amenity in public and private open space. The massing responds to the site section from three storeys on the street corridor to one and two storeys facing and adjacent to existing housing.

A mix of residential types is proposed responding to the brief for the provi sion of one, two and three bedroom apartments and three bedroom houses. Unit types are designed to respond in an innovative manner to the client/user requirements and to allow flexibility in use. Environmental improvements to the surrounding housing are an integral part of the scheme to ensure that pedestrian and vehicular circulation is enhanced. This scheme is at planning stage.
