The two-acre site is located on the north side of the main public square adjacent to the Grand Canal Theatre. The brief required that the hotel provide 180 bedrooms, a restaurant, bar, ballroom, conference facilities and spa, which are located at the southern end of the site. To the northern end are 84 luxury two-bed apartments, which are located around a water courtyard over the ballroom and spa areas.
The Grand Canal Square projects intend to enhance the developing urban landscape of Dublin Docklands by creating an exciting public landmark, a destination for working, shopping, living and entertainment. The Grand Canal Hotel and Residences are due for completion in late 2008.
